| | Consumer Benefits Research Group was created shortly after the grandmother of founder Corey J. McCormick was scammed by two individuals from Canada offering a bogus sweepstake offer. After reporting the scheme to many different authorities with no resolution Mr. McCormick concluded that "something must be done immediately to prevent others from the same unfortunate occurrence". Mr. McCormick combined his lifelong business and sales experiences with vigorous research, investigation and conclusions. Through trial and error Mr. McCormick eventually created PRO-ACTIVE solutions to International lottery and sweepstake scams, ID Theft and other types of Consumer Fraud. Mr. McCormick was ready to introduce these solutions to Americans in 1997, soon after CBRG was established.
